We are currently recruiting for a Finance Officer in Rotherham.

 

Pay rate: PAYE 21.03 per hour/UMB 26.57 per hour

Hours:  Office hours are 09:00-17:30

Contract duration: Temporary ongoing

Department: Financial

 

Seeking qualified accountant with extensive experience of year end closedown processes. Essential that the candidate has experience of producing Notes to the Accounts, including debtors/creditors/grants. Desirable that they are familiar with Regeneration and Environment Services, but not essential.

 

Purpose:

The post holder will provide a professional, efficient and comprehensive financial support service and contribute to the delivery of our client’s core finance functions in accordance with sound financial practice. The post holder will need to bring passion, experience, and expertise to continually drive forward the R&E Business Partnering Team.  Key objectives are to:

  • Support the Finance Manager in the delivery of key work programmes across the Regeneration and Environment Directorate Services Team
  • Support the Service Directorate in financial management, control and reporting matters including relevant statutory/regulatory responsibilities (in accordance with guidance/regulations/professional standards and deadlines)
  • Manage and direct the work of the Regeneration and Environment Business Partnering Team
  • Lead on specific areas of work or tasks, including the maintenance of the Directorate grant register, year-end processes, including the production of the Notes to the Accounts, budget monitoring and budget setting.

 

Skills:

  • Experience of managing a substantial amount of finances, people and other resources.
  • Good working knowledge of HR, Finance, Procurement, IT, Information Governance and Facilities polices and processes and sources of information used in updating and developing such polices.
  • Ability to prepare and deliver training material to non-finance staff.
  • Ability to work with service managers and corporate finance to identify savings as part of medium-term financial plan.
  • Candidates must be highly IT literate (both finance systems and Excel).
  • Experience In Accounty/finance Team.
  • Experience of working in a finance office and creating and reconciling financial journals.
  • Experience of working in a large finance team responsible for a range of functions.
  • Extended knowledge of finance and budgeting.
  • Knowledge of accounting and finance principles.
