We are currently recruiting an Exhibits Support Officer based in York on a 3-month contract.

Main responsibilities to include:
Ensure the safe storage and handling of general and sensitive exhibits. (Sensitive items may include large cash seizures, firearms and explosives, drugs, contaminated and hazardous items, sensitive images and data).
To ensure the security of the exhibits store is maintained and to protect the integrity of exhibits held throughout their lifecycle.
To provide a central reference point for the district for exhibits management queries.
Receive, check, record, monitor and control all exhibits coming into the possession of North Yorkshire Police on a daily basis to ensure the integrity of such exhibits through effective security and appropriate storage.
Liaise with forensic services local, regional and national suppliers to co-ordinate the timely and appropriate submission of exhibits and the effective control of exhibits in transit
Store securely and ensure the appropriate disposal of DNA and intimate samples, contaminated and hazardous items and clinical waste in accordance with NYP procedures and Waste Disposal and Health and Safety guidelines.
Input and update all data in an accurate manner on the exhibits management systems (Niche RMS or standalone database) in order to ensure the accuracy of records and monitoring systems.
Ensure the integrity of all items whilst in storage, transit or during the return or disposal process.
Ensure appropriate electronic system or paperwork is completed to support an audit trail for transactions involving the movement of all exhibits.
Undertake all responsibilities relating to information management, data quality, information sharing, intelligence and information security in accordance with ACPO guidance on the Management of Police Information

Additional information
The post occasionally involves work outside normal working hours
The role will entail significant amounts of manual handling.
Requirement to wear uniform
Occasional requirement to work in different locations
Requirement to undertake refresher training as and when required
Need to attend external meetings/conferences/workshops as required
Essential Skills Experience and Qualifications
Good attention to detail and the ability to maintain accurate records.
Well-developed written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to undertake a significant amount of manual handling
IT literate
