Data Analyst (London)

Purpose:
The mission of the programme is to procure and implement a modern, mobile, and integrated end-to-end policing solution allowing officers and their supervisors to deliver quality policing services professionally and effectively to get “the job done right” bringing offenders to justice and enhancing total victim care whilst realising the full range of benefits.
A full-time role of Data Analyst is required within the Transition workstream to design, manage and deliver a Management Information (MI) product for the Drop 2 CONNECT Operations Room (COR).
Duties:
Working alongside operational colleagues, project teams and third-party suppliers, the Drop 2 Data Analyst role will be comfortable liaising with stakeholders at every stage of the project.
The functions of the role of Data Analyst (Drop 2) are as follows:
- Work with the COR design stream and the Project Leadership Team to define relevant data streams to measure the operational impact of CONNECT Drop 2 deployment on the MPS, as well as an appropriate frequency for data extracts.
- Work with the MPS Data Office to obtain legacy system volume data.
- Extrapolate trends and expected MPS performance from the legacy data.
- Work with the Data Extraction and Management workstream to develop a mechanism for obtaining relevant CONNECT data at Drop 2 Go-Live.
- Develop a method for quickly and accurately comparing the expected MPS performance to actual performance after Drop 2 Go-Live.
- Develop and apply appropriate deviation margins to the data comparison, allowing for an easy representation of whether the MPS is performing within or outside of those margins.
- Develop an easy to interpret visual dashboard to display MPS performance compared to expected performance after Drop 2 Go-Live.
- Maintain the data streams and the dashboard throughout Drop 2 Go-Live and Hypercare.
- Present the dashboard at COR meetings, for circulation to DMO and Management Board as required.
- Perform deep data dives if required by COR management.
- Understand and coordinate the presentation of other dashboards such as the CST activity dashboard.
- Perform any additional data analysis or MI support for the CONNECT project as required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:
Essential skills and background:
- Ability to extract trends and performance projections from existing data.
- Ability to compile new data sets and compare them to existing ones to present trends and patterns.
- Ability to apply scientific method to applying deviation margins to data comparison.
- Proven ability to create meaningful and concise visual dashboards for use in an operational environment.
- Ability to work with different teams to obtain data stream.
- Ability to present data to management and answer probing questions on the data.
- Ability to flex to changing demands and briefs.
- Very good IT skills (specifically, Excel and PowerBI, as well as analytical programming).
- Ability to work in a London base throughout their engagement.
Desirable skills and background:
- Preferably a data scientist or data analyst.
- Preferably with existing MPS vetting clearance.
- SQL querying skills.
