We are currently recruiting for an Information Governance Officer based in Cheshire. 

Pay rate: £17.58 PAYE / £22.85 umbrella – per hour

Hours: Full time (37 hrs per week)

Contract duration: Temporary ongoing

Purpose:

The postholder will be responsible for managing a defined caseload of routine FOI, EIR and SAR requests, from receipt through to response, ensuring requests are handled lawfully, accurately and within statutory timescales. The role will focus on front line case handling, with work allocated and overseen by senior officers within the Information Governance team.

Duties:

  • Manage a caseload of routine FOI, EIR and SAR requests, including gathering information from services, applying exemptions, drafting responses and issuing outcomes within statutory deadlines.
  • Handle day to day statutory enquiries and related correspondence in line with information rights legislation, policies and agreed procedures.
  • Liaise effectively with service areas to obtain information and clarify responses, escalating issues where required.
  • Maintain accurate case records and support reporting and performance monitoring activity.
  • Work to customer focused principles while balancing legal compliance and organisational risk.

Essential Experience:

  • Experience handling FOI, EIR and/or SAR casework, including meeting statutory deadlines.
  • Strong written communication skills, with the ability to produce clear, accurate responses.
  • Experience working with confidential or sensitive information.
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to manage a personal caseload independently.

Desirable Experience:

  • Experience working in a local government or public sector environment.
  • Familiarity with UK GDPR, Data Protection Act 2018, FOIA and EIR.
  • Experience working in a high volume information or regulatory casework setting.
