Investigative Consultants

Rate of pay: £22 per hour (outside IR35)
Pay options: Sole Trader, Ltd company or via Umbrella company (further information attached)
Hours: Full-time, part-time & compressed hours available – 08:00-16:00 hours Mon-Friday
Contract: Temporary ongoing
Purpose: We are currently seeking Investigative Consultants to join our Peel Consultancy Team within Major Crime Unit.
Role: Investigating cases of vulnerable adults who may have received abuse in care.
Duties:
- Complete HOLMES actions that are allocated to the Officer in accordance with force policy, Data Protection rules and CPIA disclosure requirements.
- Prioritise lines of enquiry, maximising the gathering of material by securing and preserving evidence under minimum supervision. To conduct or co-ordinate all aspects of the investigation process, ensuring the highest quality of service to all stakeholders.
- Interview victims of crime and other witnesses, ensuring compliance with the Victims Charter, identifying when victims are significant or vulnerable and taking relevant measures.
- Effectively apply investigation procedures to ensure timely response to and conclusion of all enquiries.
- Gather, develop and use intelligence effectively utilising force IT systems to enhance investigations and inform other departments/line management of identified risks and safeguarding concerns.
- Attend court and give evidence in relation to those aspects of any investigation which are within the post holders personal knowledge, or in which the post holder has had any involvement during the investigative process.
- Represent the organisation by attending multi-agency meetings / case-conferences, or other such meetings as required or deemed appropriate by line management understand and apply relevant risk assessment processes to support the determination of response and effective resource prioritisation.
- Respond positively to operational requirements when required in relation to all aspects of MCU, and as required and directed by MCU Managers.
- Cultivate and maintain good relations between internal departments, external stakeholders, and the community.
- Be fully conversant and competent with relevant legislation, practice agreements and investigation procedures.
Essential Experience:
- Police experience (PIP1 or equivalent)
- Experience using HOLMES
- Previous experience of working with confidential/sensitive material.
Desirable Experience:
- Experience of conducting major crime investigations.
