We are currently recruiting for a Senior Court Presentation Officer in Preston.
Pay rate: PAYE 16.29 Per Hour
Hours: 7.4 Hours Per Day
Contract duration: Temporary Ongoing
Purpose:
- To ensure the efficient running of Police Led Prosecutions (PLP) and the wider Prosecution team.
- To support and develop Court Presentation Officers (CPO) and Safer Roads Officers (SRO) in the Prosecution team.
- To continually strive for improvement and support change where necessary.
- To promote road safety, reducing those killed and injured on roads and where necessary bring offenders to justice.
- The successful candidate will need to demonstrate their ability to present information to an audience, to reflect presenting cases in court.
Duties:
- To have up to date knowledge of legislation, force policies and procedure in relation to specified offences, proceedings and to provide advice on these issues when required to do so.
- To provide guidance in respect to the preparation and progress of specified cases.
- To quality assure files of evidence to ensure the successful prosecution of offenders and ensure cases are dealt with in a timely, professional and accurate manner.
- To present evidence in the Magistrates’ Court and upgrade files to trial ready standard to support the prosecution of our client’s specified proceedings.
- To work closely with Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) and Her Majesty’s Court and Tribunal Service (HMCTS) partners.
- To keep the SRU Prosecution Manager updated, ensuring any changes in legislation, policy and procedure, in particular those likely to affect demand within the SRU or partner agencies, or which may have funding implications, are communicated in a timely manner.
- Representing the SRU Prosecution Manager in their absence, undertaking any required duties.
- To attend and actively contribute to meetings, representing the SRU Prosecution Manager when necessary, ensuring decisions are communicated and actioned appropriately.
- To contribute to the development of efficient processes in respect to criminal justice procedures, particularly in relation to case files and presentation at Court.
- To be involved in the recruitment and retention of SRU staff.
- To facilitate the efficient running of the SRU Prosecution teams with staff being developed, motivated, informed and committed to providing a high quality of service, courtesy and confidentiality at all times.

Knowledge/Experience:
Essential:
- Experience of managing, motivating, and developing teams to achieve business objectives.
- Experience of providing specialist advice and guidance to staff and managers on policy and procedures
- Knowledge of the Criminal Justice System and case file preparation process
- Experience of managing performance and adherence to procedural and legal requirements
- Experience of dealing with members of the public and working in partnership with other departments and agencies
- Experience of developing and maintaining effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Experience of working with minimal supervision, organising, and prioritising own workload whilst working to deadlines within a busy environment
- Experience of maintaining strict confidentiality, using tact and diplomacy where applicable
- Experience of assessing information, providing logical, informed solutions, and taking appropriate action when necessary
- Experience of producing accurate written information and demonstrate a high level of attention to detail.
- Experience of using Microsoft Software applications.
Desirable:
- Law (LLB) Degree or other relevant discipline
- Experience of supervising and leading a small team
- Knowledge of current road traffic legislation and associated points to prove.
- Knowledge of specified proceedings
- Experience of interviewing members of the public
- Experience of presenting evidence in court and knowledge of court procedures and protocols
- Experience of interrogating computer systems to produce reports and/or management information.
- Knowledge of force I.T. systems
Other:
- An acceptable level of sickness absence in accordance with the client’s attendance policy
- A flexible approach to working hours and practices.
- Hold a full Driving License and successfully complete the Force Basic Driver Assessment
- Ability to travel on business.
