We are currently recruiting for a Project Manager in Exeter.
Pay rate: PAYE 359.85 per day/ UMB 465 per day.
Hours: 40hrs per week.
Contract duration: Temporary ongoing
Purpose:
The client is looking for someone to join our Programmes Directorate and work within the Product Migration and Legacy System Retirement (PMLSR) programme. This programme is focused on reducing organisational risk and complexity by retiring legacy systems and migrating to alternative means of production and dissemination.
Duties:
- Provide day to day management and leadership of the project and the project team.
- You can apply experience of multiple parts of the product life cycle. You can recognise when it is right to move forward and when it is right to stop. You can recognise the appropriate deliverables and the right people to meet these. You are able to work with other agile delivery operations throughout the product life cycle. You can plan and engage with the appropriate stakeholders at a particular stage in the project.
- Set and apply project controls. In conjunction with the respective Programme Manager, design the project structure and organisation appropriate to each stage. Set and apply appropriate delivery methodologies. Manage effective transition between project phases and handoff into business-as-usual functions.
- Develop the budget and track delivery within budget, with input from specialists.
- Identify and manage internal stakeholder relationships and need for senior level support. Manage internal and occasionally external relationships as appropriate.
- Develop mitigating actions and escalate as appropriate. Identify and work with related projects to manage interdependencies.
- Support and apply effective governance and decision making. Provide reporting to the PMO and Business Teams, and engage in mechanisms that hold you, as Project Manager, to account for delivery.
- When appropriate, ensure effective Change Management processes are in place to agree and document changes to deliverables as agreed with stakeholders.
- Provide support, guidance and coaching for the project team. Show commitment to personal development. Promote effective individual and team performance.
Essential Qualifications, Skills & Abilities:
- Extensive project management – PRINCE2 Practitioner and/or APM (Association for Project Management) PMQ Certificate and/or equivalent project related experience in Waterfall or Agile methodologies, with proven ability to complete projects according to outlined scope, budget, and timeline.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills – ability to work collaboratively with multiple internal and external stakeholders at all levels, managing conflict, negotiation and working in a matrix organisation.
- Managing priorities – proven experience of coordinating multiple activities and shifting demands, with the ability to prioritise and simplify complexity, to enable timely and effective decision making.
- Strong leadership – delivery-focused mindset, with strong leadership and problem-solving skills to overcome obstacles and motivate the team to identify solutions and deliver great outcomes.
- Knowledge and / or experience of applying Agile Project Management Principles, tools, and techniques.
