Evidence Review Officers

We are currently recruiting for Evidence Review Officers (Remote working).
Pay rate: £172.50 Ltd Co/Umbrella.
Hours: Full time (7.5hrs per day, Monday-Friday)
Contract duration: Temporary ongoing.
Purpose:
Phase 1: Initial re-review of 250 Case Files that are currently with the CPS.
Phase 2: Once this has been completed, there will be an ERO team formed that reviews all PIP2 case files before they go to the CPS.
Duties:
- To manage a workload of PIP2 cases for evidential review, PCD and EA files, that are submitted by investigation teams as the single process through which charging decisions can be progressed.
- To review each file according to the relevant legislation, ensuring that it complies with all relevant evidential tests and National File Standards. To ensure that all files submitted to CPS are quality assured to the highest standard.
- To review all PCD and EA files that are rejected by CPS, to understand the reasons behind the failure and to provide the Investigation Academy Lead with a thematic list of these reasons monthly.
- Where rejected files have action plans attached, to review these for thematic learning and work with the CJ Case Progression Team to monitor the timely progression in conjunction with the OIC and their supervisor.
- To respond to all requests for advice or guidance from investigation teams in the correct file structure, wording of specific file contents (such as CM01 or MG6 series) and to act as Subject Matter Experts (SME) in all aspects of case file preparation for Specialist Investigation Cases.
- To work in partnership with the CPS teams, attending regular Prosecution Team Performance Meetings when available and ensuring that all organisational learning opportunities are identified and filtered to the Investigation Academy Lead.
Essential Knowledge and Experience:
- Experience & Working Knowledge Using NICHE.
- Ability to prioritise in line with risk, harm, threat, and vulnerability.
- Proven commitment to providing a high level of service to victims of crime.
- Proven ability to supervise crimes within the remit of this team, including case file supervision and ERO function.
- Demonstrable skills in managing own workload and working with minimal supervision.
- A good understanding of Disclosure and management of third-party material in case preparation.
