We are currently recruiting a Crime Adviser – Digital Media Specialist based in the Cambridge/Bedfordshire border area on a 12 month contract. £20 per hour.

Role:
The post holder will typically support front line officers investigating major crime by identifying investigative opportunities through their experience as a digital media adviser.
The post holder will then offer investigative advice on legislation, policy, tactical options and evidential opportunities based on published guidance, established and/or emerging good practice and their experience.

Responsibilities may include the following;

 

  • Manage/supervise a team of officers, and act as a Lead Officer.
  • Ensure investigations, prevention and analytical initiatives are carried out thoroughly, professionally and expeditiously in accordance with Agency policy and legislative requirements.
  • Supervise the development and delivery of strategic / tactical intelligence and analytical products to support operations /investigations including strategic assessments and profiling to inform local/national operational priorities, government strategy and internal policy (as appropriate).
  • Supervise case management/case work activity to include the analysis, collection, handling, recording, quality assurance, retention, and dissemination of intelligence/evidence and reports in accordance with Agency policy, and identify specific trends/similarities or cases that warrant targeted response levels (as appropriate).
  • Provide in-depth advice and guidance on a range of communications data and digital media-related opportunities including but not limited to digital/cyber forensic examination, open source, cyber tools and techniques to assist major and complex crime operations and investigations, and maximise opportunities to assist internal and external partners, in accordance with current legislation.
  • Develop and influence policies that govern various national policies, particularly in relation to the Acquisition and Disclosure of Communications Data as a member of the National Policing Comms Data Group.
  • Research, identify and analyse relevant issues affecting the SPOC community and liaise with the College of Policing Knowledge Engagement Team and other working groups to highlight emerging risks and opportunities to law enforcement agencies.
  • Assess departmental policies, working practices and where appropriate identify areas for improvement in line with best practice.
  • Manage the security and accuracy of intelligence, maintaining confidentiality, sensitivity and duty of care.
  • Promote professional standards and provide advice, support and develop management reports in relation to criminal and misconduct allegations that impact on organisational delivery or the Agency’s reputation (as required).
  • Manage/coach and develop staff.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders in order to foster collaborative working.
  • Conduct Health & Safety Management, including Risk Assessment in line with operational procedure. Ensure all team members are aware of Health and Safety requirements.
