{"id":730,"date":"2023-04-26T11:15:05","date_gmt":"2023-04-26T10:15:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.policejobs.co.uk\/?post_type=jobpost&#038;p=730"},"modified":"2023-04-26T11:15:05","modified_gmt":"2023-04-26T10:15:05","slug":"op-investigation-officer-preston","status":"publish","type":"jobpost","link":"https:\/\/www.policejobs.co.uk\/?jobpost=op-investigation-officer-preston","title":{"rendered":"Op Investigation Officer (Preston)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>We are currently recruiting for an Op Investigation Officer in Preston.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Pay rate:<\/u> <\/strong>PAYE 16.29 per hour.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Contract duration:<\/u><\/strong> Temporary ongoing<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Purpose:<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>To investigate historical allegations of child abuse, involving victims who have reported abuse by persons in positions of public prominence, or who have been abused within institutions.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Duties:\u00a0<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u00a0To conduct serious and complex investigations, plan and manage own workload, and retain OIC responsibility.<br \/>\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0To secure, preserve and gather evidence to support law enforcement objectives.<br \/>\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0To undertake tasks accordingly with accredited powers.<br \/>\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0To plan, prepare and be involved in the execution of operations.<br \/>\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0To work in partnership with other departments and agencies to safeguard and protect those at risk of abuse.<br \/>\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0To interview witnesses and take statements as part of investigations in line with Achieving Best Evidence Guidelines.<br \/>\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0To provide support to victims and witnesses and assess their need for further support throughout the criminal justice process.<br \/>\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0To interview people suspected of committing offences and conduct process procedures.<br \/>\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0To use internal IT systems to research and maintain records regarding individuals and investigations.<br \/>\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0To complete comprehensive investigation reports and case files.<br \/>\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0To present evidence to CPS and at court, to prosecute offenders through the criminal justice system.<br \/>\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0To provide flexibility to account for exigencies of duty<br \/>\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0To carry out any other duties which are consistent with the nature, responsibilities and grading of the post.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Knowledge\/Experience:\u00a0<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Essential:<br \/>\n<\/strong>&#8211; Experience of successfully investigating serious and complex crimes.<br \/>\n&#8211; Experience of safeguarding vulnerable members of the community and those at risk of abuse.<br \/>\n&#8211; Experience of gathering critical evidence by interviewing victims, significant witnesses and suspects.<br \/>\n&#8211; Experience and knowledge of the Criminal Justice System relating to the PACE Act, including searching premises, handling exhibits, interviewing suspects, and CPIA 1996, relating to disclosure.<br \/>\n&#8211; Experience of working on own initiative, investigating problems, developing solutions and taking appropriate timely action to resolve them<br \/>\n&#8211; Experience of maintaining &amp; interrogating computerised systems and manual filing systems<br \/>\n&#8211; Experience of communicating at all levels with a wide range of audiences.<br \/>\n&#8211; Experience of working effectively and efficiently as part of a team, and working with minimal supervision<br \/>\n&#8211; Experience of dealing with members of the public and working in partnership with other departments and agencies.<br \/>\n&#8211; Experience of dealing with difficult situations or conflict<br \/>\n&#8211; Experience of maintaining strict confidentiality using tact and diplomacy where appropriate<\/p>\n<p><strong>Desirable:<\/strong><br \/>\n&#8211; Experience of using databases to research and record information.<br \/>\n&#8211; Knowledge of intelligence gathering procedure and policies.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Qualifications:<\/u><\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Essential:<\/strong><br \/>\nPIP level 2 trained and accredited.<br \/>\n<strong>Desirable:<\/strong><br \/>\nPNC database trained<br \/>\nSpecialist Investigative Interviewer Tier 3 (victim and suspects)<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Apply online or contact Lucia De Felice on 07425 757587.
