To interview suspects and provide support and assistance to other investigations as required by supervision.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Duties:\u00a0<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>To provide an investigative response to incidents and received intelligence<\/li>\n<li>To secure, preserve and gather evidence within Investigations in order to prove or disprove information and establish facts, relating to allegations of misconduct or criminal acts by employees or volunteers.<\/li>\n<li>To manage the processing of appeals, including but not limited to maintaining accurate records, liaison with complainants, formulation of response letters\/reports and updating complainants.<\/li>\n<li>To have contact with members of the public in person, on the phone and through written correspondence. Obtain details of complaints and misconduct and where possible resolve these complaints.<\/li>\n<li>Compile detailed investigation reports and case files, conducting criminal or misconduct interviews and presenting evidence to criminal courts or misconduct meetings\/hearings as required.<\/li>\n<li>To provide specialist advice, guidance and support to divisional staff in respect of allegations, complaints and investigations and deliver PSD training packages to internal and external customers as required.<\/li>\n<li>To mentor and support the professional development of Police Investigation Officers<\/li>\n<li>To conduct serious and complex criminal investigations, plan and manage own workload, and retain responsibility as the officer-in-case.<\/li>\n<li>To provide support to victims and witnesses and assess their need for further support throughout the criminal justice process.<\/li>\n<li>To interview victims and witnesses and obtain statements in relation to serious and complex investigations.<\/li>\n<li>To interview suspects in relation to serious and complex criminal investigations.<\/li>\n<li>To use internal IT systems to research and maintain records regarding individuals and investigations.<\/li>\n<li>To complete comprehensive investigation reports and case files.<\/li>\n<li>To present evidence to CPS and at court<\/li>\n<li>To be flexible in providing cover within the normal place of work and across the county.<\/li>\n<li>To support, where required, the investigation of priority and volume crime.<\/li>\n<li>To carry out any other duties which are consistent with the nature, responsibilities and grading of the post.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Knowledge\/Experience:\u00a0<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Essential: <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Experience of conducting successful Volume and Priority Crime investigations, both proactive and re active.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Experience of investigating crime.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Experience of gathering critical evidence by interviewing victims, significant witnesses and suspects.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Experience and knowledge of the Criminal Justice System relating to the PACE Act, including searching premises, handling exhibits, interviewing suspects, and CPIA 1996, relating to disclosure<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Experience of maintaining &amp; interrogating computerised systems and manual filing systems<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Experience of dealing with members of the public<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Experience of communicating at all levels with a wide range of audiences.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Experience of working effectively and efficiently as part of a team, and working with minimal supervision.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Experience of working on own initiative, investigating problems, developing solutions and taking appropriate timely action to resolve them<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Experience of dealing with difficult situations or conflict<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Experience of maintaining strict confidentiality using tact and diplomacy where appropriate.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Desirable: <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Knowledge of intelligence gathering procedure and policies.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Experience of using police databases to research and record information.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Experience of working in partnership with other departments and agencies<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Qualifications:<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Essential: <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Qualified to PIP Level 1.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; PIP level 2 trained and accredited or willing to complete the PIP2 programme within 12 months of attending the course.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Desirable: <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>-To have passed the National Investigator\u2019s Exam (NIE)<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Other: <\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Ability to travel on business when required.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; A flexible approach towards working practice and working hours.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Full driving licence<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Willing for appropriate vetting commensurate to role<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Apply online or contact Lucia De Felice on 07425 757587.
