{"id":668,"date":"2023-03-20T13:07:23","date_gmt":"2023-03-20T13:07:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.policejobs.co.uk\/?post_type=jobpost&#038;p=668"},"modified":"2023-03-20T13:07:23","modified_gmt":"2023-03-20T13:07:23","slug":"financial-support-officer-newham","status":"publish","type":"jobpost","link":"https:\/\/www.policejobs.co.uk\/?jobpost=financial-support-officer-newham","title":{"rendered":"Financial Support Officer (Newham)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>We are currently recruiting for a Financial Support Officer in Newham.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Pay rate:<\/u> <\/strong>PAYE 18.76 per hour\/UMB 23.34 per hour<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Contract duration:<\/u><\/strong> Temporary ongoing<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Department: <\/u><\/strong>Financial<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Purpose:<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>To maintain the financial health of the service by:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The provision of high-quality financial advice to managers including financial research and investigations.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>To effectively deliver financial support services by:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>To provide a range of control, and financial admin tasks delivering financial support to the service.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Delivering an excellent support service to the FleetCare management team in the areas of procurement, payments, accounting and financial management.<\/li>\n<li>Assisting with the preparation of capital and revenue budgets, and budget monitoring.<\/li>\n<li>Taking responsibility for cash control and accounting, banking arrangements and facilities, credit and debit card arrangements and facilities, cheque reconciliation and control.<\/li>\n<li>Contributing positively to the overall wellbeing of the Council and the service.<\/li>\n<li>Act as the Fleetcare champion for Oracle One prior and post implementation.<\/li>\n<li>Ensure all suppler invoices are processed on time and liaise with Finance to ensure prompt payment.<\/li>\n<li>Produce all SLA\u2019s on behalf of Fleet Management.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Duties:\u00a0<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Financial management:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>To provide financial advice and support to FleetCare management team. To advise colleagues within the service on financial control and financial management.<\/li>\n<li>To liaise with colleagues in relevant services to ensure the provision of all necessary information, required for accounting and audit purposes, and in connection with asset registers.<\/li>\n<li>To advise the FleetCare management team on requirements and procedures for budget monitoring, end of year process, audits and financial management.<\/li>\n<li>To maintain budgetary control procedures, so ensuring best use of resources and avoiding improper or inefficient practices;<\/li>\n<li>To advise the FleetCare management team of any matter that undermines the integrity of the Service budget including weaknesses in financial controls within the Service.<\/li>\n<li>To assist the FleetCare management team in the monthly budget monitor and forecast for the Service to ensure: spend is on target, high trends in spend are identified and managed, take appropriate action for any anomalies and challenges, and forecast additional spend when required i.e. overtime<\/li>\n<li>To use the principles of performance management to ensure personal and Service objectives are met or exceeded.<\/li>\n<li>To adhere to the Council\u2019s behavioural standards and equal opportunities policy.<\/li>\n<li>To maintain financial control procedures, so ensuring best use of resources and avoiding improper or inefficient practices within the Service.<\/li>\n<li>To liaise with Finance, when required, and to respond promptly to their advice and recommendations.<\/li>\n<li>To be responsible as directed by the Assistant Transport Manager for the reconciliation of specific systems and accounts, extracting systems data where necessary.<\/li>\n<li>To contribute towards the delivery of the Council\u2019s key objectives.<\/li>\n<li>To provide budgetary management support to the FleetCare management team which is of the highest quality, incorporating best practice and standards.<\/li>\n<li>To promote actively the Council\u2019s policies on equal opportunities in all respects by delivering, upholding and encouraging the highest standards of behaviour;<\/li>\n<li>To undertake other duties and responsibilities of a similar nature which reflect the level of those described above that may be required by the FleetCare management team.<\/li>\n<li>To ensure all FleetCare purchase order are raised correctly.<\/li>\n<li>To ensure all invoices are passed for payment within the accepted timescales.<\/li>\n<li>To ensure all requests to purchase items are approved and completed using the Council\u2019s relevant procurement method.<\/li>\n<li>To be a Champion for Oracle One representing Fleetcare and ensuring Fleetcare is fully prepared.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Experience:\u00a0<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Experience of using financial and budgetary information<\/li>\n<li>Experience of IT applications, financial systems and there use.<\/li>\n<li>Experience of using Microsoft office packages<\/li>\n<li>Experience of organising meetings including agenda management and taking action notes.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Knowledge and Skills: <\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Ability to make an effective contribution to service planning.<\/li>\n<li>Good written and verbal communication skills<\/li>\n<li>Ability to work effectively as part of a team.<\/li>\n<li>Ability to work on own initiative and manage a significant and varied workload with competing demands.<\/li>\n<li>Knowledge of the Freedom of Information Act and the Data Protection Act<\/li>\n<li>Understanding of the importance of performance management and achieving business efficiency<\/li>\n<li>Able to understand and interpret a wide range of financial data.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Apply online or contact Terri O&#8217;Keefe on 01925 377 878.
