{"id":380,"date":"2020-10-15T13:45:20","date_gmt":"2020-10-15T12:45:20","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.policejobs.co.uk\/?post_type=jobpost&#038;p=380"},"modified":"2020-10-15T13:45:20","modified_gmt":"2020-10-15T12:45:20","slug":"investigative-support-officer-ashton-under-lynne","status":"publish","type":"jobpost","link":"https:\/\/www.policejobs.co.uk\/?jobpost=investigative-support-officer-ashton-under-lynne","title":{"rendered":"Investigative Support Officer (Ashton under Lynne)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We are currently recruiting an Investigative Support Officer based in Ashton under Lynne on a 6 \u2013 12 month contract.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Role:<\/strong><br \/>\nTo provide investigative support to the Major Incident Team (MIT), by taking responsibility for functions concerned with the investigations into murder and Major Crime Investigation<\/p>\n<p>To act as investigating officer in investigations, taking responsibility for evidence gathering, file preparation and submission and the management of cases throughout the prosecution and Crown Court trial process.<\/p>\n<p>To perform roles within the Major Incident Room as directed by the SIO, including action allocating, reading\/receiving, disclosure, CCTV and exhibits management.<\/p>\n<p><strong>MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u2022 To understand and provide administrative support for the core functions of the Major Incident Team in accordance with MIRSAP, answer telephone enquiries, obtain and accurately record information, completing and submitting messages into the Incident Room. To record and maintain accurate financial records and expenditure.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Act as Investigating Officer within a Major Incident Room, investigating allocated \u2018actions\u2019 as required and gathering evidence to the required standards in support of prosecution cases<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 To support witness management including:<br \/>\n\u2013 obtain statements from witnesses including police officers, professional and expert witnesses, ensuring that statements are accurate in detail and submitted into the MIR<br \/>\n\u2013 interview witnesses to obtain detailed witness accounts or comprehensive witness statements as appropriate to the circumstances.<br \/>\n\u2013 ensure witnesses are contacted and transported to and from court where required<br \/>\n\u2013 provide appropriate support to such witnesses throughout the criminal process.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 To support the processes regarding seized material and exhibits including:<br \/>\n\u2013 ensure labelling, recording and safe handling of all exhibits.<br \/>\n\u2013 manage or assist as required in the recording, inputting of exhibits onto the HOLMES2 database and entering property and exhibits into the property system when items are transferred to divisional property stores.<br \/>\n\u2013 undertake the examination of all seized articles in particular the viewing of CCTV, DVD, videos and where appropriate material held in computer format e.g. floppy discs, CD ROM. Preparing viewing logs and evidencing including taking of witness statements to prove provenance and continuity of exhibits. Including presentation of CCTV and other images into a computerised digital format to aid briefings and delivery of evidential presentation of such material for the SIO, investigation team and Crown Prosecution<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 When required, provide a balanced, accurate and reliable summary of tape-recorded interviews in accordance with the Manual of Guidance.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Conduct research on persons of interest with internal police departments and external agencies e.g. GMPICs, OIS, VIS, Crime Recording, PNC, HOLMES2.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 To complete proof reading of typed documentation in MIR including officers\u2019 reports, witness statements, transcripts of interviews etc.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 To manage or assists as required in MIR documentation including filing and storing of disclosure documentation and transfer to murder library, or assist in this process.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 To support the warrants process including<\/p>\n<p>\u2013 prepare paperwork in relation to obtaining search warrants from the Courts.<br \/>\n\u2013 In conjunction with police officers, execute search warrants and undertake searches.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 To perform the role of telephone investigator as directed by the SIO.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 On behalf of the SIO when requested to perform the role of Reader, Receiver and Disclosure<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 To assist in the completion of files and associated paperwork in respect of prosecutions. Where directed by the SIO act as case officer in Category \u2018C\u2019 murder and homicide investigations, submitting time bound full and complete files of evidence to national standards for review by Crown Prosecution Service<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 To work with partners in both the judicial and coronial system, forensic service providers and other stakeholders in preparation for trial at Crown Court, Coroners inquest process and other hearings such as Serious Case Review\u2019s. To represent the SIO during these processes as required.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 To attend crown court trials and coroner\u2019s inquests as case officer giving evidence as required and providing support to the prosecution team and\/or coroner throughout the process. To represent the SIO during these processes as required.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 To prepare time-bound complete files of evidence for Coroners inquest purposes.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 To assist in the processing of detained persons including obtaining fingerprints, photograph, DNA etc and other documentation.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 To promote and comply with policies on health and safety both in the delivery of services and the treatment of others.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Comply with and promote equality legislation and policies on diversity and equality. Take steps to eliminate unlawful discrimination, advance equality of opportunity and foster good relations<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 To fully participate in the development review process<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 If you have responsibility for staff; to manage staff development, performance and attendance using appropriate policy and procedure.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 To comply with the requirements of the policies on Drug and Alcohol testing \u2013 requirements in respect of specific posts\/ roles are described in the policies which are available on the Intranet\/SharePoint.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 All staff and officers must adhere to and comply with Data Protection, Freedom of Information and Human Rights legislation and the Authorised Professional Practice (Information Management). It is the responsibility of all staff and officers to maintain data quality and security. Therefore when inputting, updating and using information, you are to ensure that it is Accurate, Adequate, Relevant and Timely (AART), and that it is used \/ disclosed for business purposes only and kept secure.
