Purpose of the Role:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n Our Trading Standards Service aims to build a safe, fair and legal market place , helping businesses succeed and safeguarding communities.<\/p>\n We are looking for dedicated Trading Standards Officers to join our Trading Standards Service within our Food and Farming and Safety and Fair-Trading Sections.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Key Responsibilities:<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n Central to the team, you will be responsible for undertaking intelligence-led compliance programmes, including sampling, inspections, verifications and market surveillance, enforcement and community protection activities, as well as criminal and civil interventions and investigations. You will provide business advice and support including provision through our Primary Authority scheme and develop effective community engagement strategies.<\/p>\n We are looking for people who are as ambitious as we are, who take pride in their work, are innovative, business-like, collaborative and committed to delivering enforcement activities to the highest standard.<\/p>\n Applications are invited from those who hold the Diploma in Trading Standards, DCATS or its equivalent. We will also consider applications from those interested in training as a Trading Standards Officer or who are studying for the Trading Standards Practitioner Certificate (TSPC). This will involve an apprenticeship\/vocational qualification including attendance at training courses and personal study time outside normal office hours.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Depending on the level you join, you will require the following:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n \u2022 Trading Standards Officer \u2013 Grade I \u2013 In addition to the below you will have obtained the Trading Standards Practitioner Diploma, (or appropriate antecedents)<\/p>\n \u2022 Trading Standards Officer \u2013 Grade H \u2013 In addition to the below, you will have obtained the Trading Standards Practitioner Certificate, (or appropriate antecedents)<\/p>\n \u2022 Trainee level \u2013 Grade G \u2013 A good standard of general education to NVQ Level 3, with a minimum of 2 \u201cA\u201d Levels and 5 GCSEs, or equivalent, including Mathematics and English Language.
