To investigate criminal<br \/>\nactivity. To actively participate in a range of evidence<br \/>\ngathering and criminal investigation tasks involving<br \/>\nvictims, witnesses, technical sources and suspects.<\/p>\n<p>MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:<br \/>\n1. To undertake the investigation of priority and volume crime, as defined by<br \/>\nWarwickshire Police and West Mercia Police, and to actively participate in<br \/>\na range of evidence gathering and investigation at that level, exercising the<br \/>\ndesignated powers.<br \/>\n2. To interview and record the evidence of victims and witnesses in<br \/>\nstatement form or ABE (Achieving Best Evidence) interview as<br \/>\nappropriate, exercising the designated powers. In some cases, this will<br \/>\nneed to be supported by the gathering of appropriate medical and forensic<br \/>\nevidence.<br \/>\n3. To attend scenes of crime and ensure that all available evidence is<br \/>\nprotected and secured, to maximise forensic opportunities.<br \/>\n4. To liaise with other members and departments of the organisation, with<br \/>\nother police forces, partnership and external agencies and the public, to<br \/>\ngather evidence and identifying and trace offenders.<br \/>\n5. As necessary, to provide victims and witnesses with regular updates on<br \/>\nthe progress of investigations in compliance with the victims\u2019 code.<br \/>\n6. To prepare and submit evidential files to the Crown Prosecution Service to<br \/>\nthe highest of professional standards and meeting the required Manual of<br \/>\nGuidance standards in relation to quality, timeliness, disclosure and<br \/>\nevidential integrity. To attend court hearings, where necessary, to present<br \/>\nthe evidence in person.<br \/>\n7. To act as disclosure officer under the Criminal Procedure and<br \/>\nInvestigations Act 1996 making decisions relating to the relevance of<br \/>\nunused material for disclosure to the CPS.<br \/>\n8. To record on relevant police systems in a timely manner, any information \/<br \/>\nintelligence that relates to criminality and \/ or public protection or ASB<br \/>\nissues.<br \/>\n9.
