We are currently recruiting for a Capacity Building Lead in London.

 

Pay rate: PAYE 257.72-294.54 Per day

Contract duration: Temporary ongoing

 

Purpose:

To provide capacity building support to the currently commissioned eight networks with a view to improving outcomes for young people. This will include intensive working and immersion in each neighbourhood, establishing a close working relationship with lead and delivery partners, providing bespoke support, and creating opportunities for networks to increase visibility and resilience.

Support the commissioned voluntary and community sector groups in strengthening their organisations by assisting on best practice in governance, funding strategies, planning service provision, evidencing impact and embedding sustainable development.

 

Main Duties: 

Designing, delivering, and steering the community-based capacity building activities of the client’s programme. Specific support needs have been identified around the following two areas, although the post holder will be expected to identify additional strategic local needs and co-design solutions in collaboration with network leads and partners.

Research and impact mapping:

  • Improved outcome identification- supporting networks in aligning outcomes to VRU’s Outcomes Focused Performance Framework and evidencing at least one outcome per intervention. Helping develop network level theories of change.
  • Support around performance monitoring- surgeries/workshops to improve monitoring, quality assuring the monitoring process, improving on time submission, assisting in demographics research and data collection.
  • Recording and quality assuring the onward grant process- developing, administering, and supporting a light touch monitoring system for onward grant recipients, quality assuring the onward grant disbursement process

Community engagement:

  • Introduction of a standardised community support offer- supporting community engagement and capturing community voice, learning and reflection sessions and surgeries, emphasising assertive outreach to the widest reaches of the community and tying in community engagement to ongoing evaluation activities.
  • Strong visible presence in each network on a regular basis with a clear plan of engagement in place- this engagement should be strategic to help improve capacity, upskill professionals, suggest approaches to strengthen interventions
  • Trust and buy in- engagement with the wider community beyond immediate stakeholders. Facilitating information sharing and flow of communication from VRU to the client’s networks.
  • Manage resources allocated to the job in accordance with the Authority’s policies and Code of Ethics and Standards and realise the benefits of London’s diversity by promoting the diverse needs and aspirations of London’s communities.
  • Realise the benefits of a flexible approach to work in undertaking the duties and responsibilities of this job and participating in other public liaison functions in a multi-disciplinary, cross-department and cross-organisational groups and project teams.

Technical Requirements: 

Essential:

– Significant experience co-designing, co-producing, and driving community led research in localised contexts across London.

– Experience of community-based capacity building. It is desirable to understand neighbourhoods currently commissioned through the programme.

– Experience of designing and delivering monitoring, research, and evaluation, using both qualitative and quantitative approaches to data collection, processing, analysis, and reporting.

– Knowledge and understanding of the specialist voluntary, community sector, particularly those working with young people and families across the eight neighbourhoods.

– Demonstrable experience of using new methods and technologies to improve community engagement, particularly ensuring we reach the widest parts of local communities.

– Experience of designing new projects that achieve the vision set within a new strategy.

Desirable:

Knowledge of issues affecting London’s communities, particularly those experiencing multiple, intersecting disadvantages that exacerbate their vulnerability and risk.
