IT Technical Project Officer (Malton)

Pay rate: PAYE 19.85 per hour/UMB 24.83 per hour
Hours: 8:30am-17:00pm- 37 hours per week
Contract duration: Temporary ongoing

Purpose:
This frontline IT role incorporates a range of technical support duties and daily operational procedures. The post-holder will be expected to be able to diagnose and resolve technical issues at first and second line support level, and contribute to the overall maintenance and development of our client’s area of information technology infrastructure and systems. This key IT role provides a technical resource to support in the delivery of IT projects and day to day corporate IT operations. The post-holder will undertake a varied workload, contributing to the overall management and development of the client’s area of IT infrastructure and systems. Areas of responsibility will cover:
- Managing and maintaining the IT Infrastructure in-line with operational requirements, IT security policies and PSN/GDPR requirements
- Providing a key technical resource as part of corporate IT projects.
- Working with the IT service desk team to provide day-to-day technical support across a variety of hardware, software and corporate systems.
Duties:
- Providing basic training to end-users to enable them to get the best from ICT equipment and software.
- Triaging issues that cannot be solved internally to the appropriate external resource for resolution and managing issues through to successful resolution.
- Using service and performance-tracking software to ensure that requests for service are properly logged and followed through to conclusion.
- Installation configuration, testing, maintenance and support for desktop hardware, mobile devices, printers, software applications and network equipment to the agreed standard
- Contributing to the technical aspects of the IT Disaster Recovery plan and supporting regular testing of the plan to ensure the successful recovery of ICT systems in a disaster recovery scenario.
- Advanced network troubleshooting including checking connectivity of devices and related network settings.
- Liaising with third parties to support internal services or networked PC hardware. This includes managing the repair/support and following it through to an acceptable conclusion for the customer.
- Providing audio-visual equipment support for all our client’s events, including support for the voting system and the audio recording of our client’s committees.
- Management and configuration of the telephony systems in conjunction with any external suppliers.
- Managing and updating the door access control system.
- Writing and maintaining professional system documentation.
- Contributing to the design and implementation of technical projects
- Contributing to the embedding and implementation of ITIL standards in all aspects of the department’s practice
Experience:
- Experience of working within a busy technical support environment
- Experience of working in the public sector
Qualifications:
- Educated to degree level in a technology related subject or equivalent or demonstrable experience at this level.
- Relevant professional qualification, working towards or willing to undertake
- Evidence of continuing professional development
Knowledge:
- Knowledge of desktop support services
- Knowledge of HelpDesk functions and associated ICT best practice
- Awareness of ITIL-based change control processes and methodology
- Knowledge of operating system and desktop software licensing
- An understanding of infrastructure technologies and their dependencies
- Knowledge of project management techniques and tools
- Knowledge and understanding of a range of IT technologies and their application in a complex environment.
