Holmes Reader Receiver (London)
16th December 2019We are currently looking for a Holmes Reader/Receiver based in West Brompton, London on a full-time, 6 month contract.
The ideal candidate will have experience of working as a DC/PC within a Police Constabulary (within the last 3 years). The HOLMES Reader/Receiver will be an ex Detective or an ex Police Officer having an aptitude for conducting investigations and research and ideally having been appropriately trained in the use HOLMES version 16. This officer will have the capability to complete actions, read relevant materials on HOLMES, carryout enquiries and prepare messages, spreadsheets and reports as necessary.
AC Professionalism’s IRSC is responsible for managing the MPS response to the current Undercover Policing Inquiry (UCPI).
The IRSC work closely with the Directorate of Legal Services (DLS) to provide disclosure of highly sensitive material to the UCPI in relation to undercover policing.
The UCPI is an extremely broad ranging Public Inquiry dealing with the historical and current conduct of undercover operations.
HOLMES Reader/Receivers seeking to work on the team will benefit from a unique opportunities in a complex and challenging area.
Key Accountabilities:
Receive and assess all documentation and ascertain whether any urgent actions should be raised.
Receive and assess returned actions and accompanying documentation, ensuring actions have been correctly completed and if necessary raise further actions.
Assess and handle documentation according to GPMS.
Actively participate in SIO briefings to direct investigations.
Prioritise all documentation ensuring actions are raised and returned within set time frames.
Highlight content of assessed items to be indexed by HOLMES indexers.
Record accurate summaries of documents.
Deputise for the HOLMES Office Manager when required

Desirable Criteria for the Role:
A good knowledge of criminal investigations and associated legislation.
Effective verbal and written skills with the ability to establish further detail by raising investigative actions.
The ability to liaise confidently with internal & external partners, members of the public and other organisations.
Ability to use initiative and have confidence in making decisions.
Good IT skills
Ability to deal with large volumes of information, across multiple operations, with the ability to priortise tasks and plan and organise them effectively.
Willingness to be trained in the Altia Scanning software package provided in house.
Working hours: Full-Time 07:00 – 15:00, 08:00 0 16:00, 09:00 – 17:00 (36 hours per week)
