We are currently recruiting a Uniform Services Assistant in Bramley, Surrey.

Purpose:
The role is introduced to ensure officers and staff have the correct uniform and equipment, and that uniform and equipment is ordered and distributed to the end user.

Responsibilities:
• The issue, receipt, safe-keeping and stock-taking of stock items, including maintenance of documentation, as directed by the Uniform Services Supervisor.
• To provide a reception service for the uniform stores receiving visitors, students, contractors, staff and suppliers.
• To issue clothing and other items to police officers and support staff across Surrey and Sussex, in accordance with policy and procedure, accurately recording all transactions.
• To deal with all customers, suppliers and others in a polite and helpful manner whether meeting with them face to face or communicating by telephone, e mail or other means,
• Upholding and enhancing the professional reputation of the Uniform Services.
• To provide a fitting service and provide product expertise to ensure that all officers and staff are supplied with fit for purpose and presentable uniform and equipment
• Receive and carry out quality control inspections of stock goods delivered from external suppliers.
• Record any discrepancies in quantity or quality and liaise with suppliers to resolve issues.
• Undertake other duties appropriate to the grade and character of work as may be reasonably required, including specific duties of a similar or lesser graded post.
• To maintain stock records, raising orders for replenishment as directed by the Uniform Services Supervisor
• Assisting with regular and annual stock audits.
• To travel to other locations on a rota basis to provide the same services from a satellite store (i.e. Lewes).

Requirements:
• Stock control experience and ability to document and maintain records accurately
• Knowledge of Health and Safety relevant to the role.
• Ability to lift and carry using safe handling techniques, including handling items at height
• Educated to O level/GCSE level standard or equivalent
• The successful applicants will be working in a warehouse environment and must be capable of lifting boxes on and off shelves. They must be able to communicate with staff and suppliers alike with both good written and verbal communication skills.
• Given the volume of orders received, the individual must be able to organize their time well and balance incoming demands with proactive resourcing and stock management.
• The individual must be able to work well under pressure.
