We are currently recruiting a Safeguarding Support Officer based in Blackpool.

15 hours per week.

Role:
Preparing for and representing the police at multi-agency conferences, and completing associated safeguarding actions. This may involve travelling to various locations within Lancashire to support other teams.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare for and represent the police at Initial and Review Child Protection Conferences sharing sensitive information within the conference.

• In conjunction with members from partner agencies make recommendations about the likelihood of the child suffering significant harm in the future, providing a police perspective for the panel Chair to decide what future action is required in order to safeguard and promote the welfare of the child.

• Prepare for and attend Multi Agency Risk Management Conferences when required and present police information to the conference with respect to specified domestic abuse incidents. Record information relevant to this conference on the appropriate computerised databases

• Complete safeguarding actions generated from conferences as directed

• Assist Officers from within PPU teams, when directed by Detective Sergeant, with any Safeguarding visits in relation to those identified as vulnerable or at risk of serious harm.

• Interrogation of police databases and research of relevant information to assist in the identification and management of risk and protection of children and vulnerable persons.

• Providing close administrative support for the Detective Sergeant including word processing, electronic mailing and the preparation of statistical data

• Communicating with members of the public, victims, witnesses, and other professionals from outside agencies, divisions and departments to deal with a wide variety of issues

• Liaising and working in conjunction with a variety of internal departments and external agencies.

• Providing administrative assistance to the Serious Case Review processes for child abuse, vulnerable adult abuse and domestic abuse as appropriate

• To carry out any other duties which are consistent with the nature, responsibilities and grading of the post.
