We are currently recruiting an Operations Officer (Analytical) for a Missing persons unit based in Bristol. This role is on a 12-month ongoing contract.

Role: To contribute to the acquisition and development of tactical and strategic intelligence (through targeted research, open source searches, behavioural, analytical, comparative studies and/or prevention initiatives focused on serious and organised crime affecting the UK.

Responsibilities:

Participate in operations, investigations, projects and prevention initiatives to include researching data systems, analysing behavioural themes and providing information and reports, in order to build knowledge of serious and organised crime to support objectives. (Primarily Analytical roles).

Conduct and support money laundering/criminal finance/asset recovery investigations and provide specialist knowledge and guidance. (Financial Investigator FI role).

Support the objectives of an investigation, by processing, researching, interpreting, evaluating, recording and cross-referencing all documentation entering the Major Incident Room (MIR) on to Home Office Large Major Enquiry System (HOLMES) accurately and in accordance with national guidance, rules, conventions and policies. (HOLMES Indexer role).

Provide advice on legislation, policy, research and tactical options to assist in the planning and implementation of investigations, operations and prevention initiatives.

Analyse specific crimes through the identification, research and examination of unique, behavioural themes (Primarily Analytical roles).

Provide advice to investigating officers, on analysis performed and the significance of behavioural characteristics exhibited by offenders committing serious organised crime. (Primarily Analytical roles).

Conduct initial assessments to evaluate the abilities and needs of victims/witnesses, and decide on the use of intermediaries during the investigation / interview process (as appropriate).

Provide tactical and strategic support to the Agency by conducting research, gathering and analysing intelligence and evidence in accordance with legislation and policy.

Develop target profiles, evidential products and identify prevention opportunities, (as appropriate).

Conduct systematic research and analysis of open and closed sources to assist the decision making of law enforcement agencies (Research roles).

Conduct statistical analysis to inform management reports.

Ensure the quality, secure handling and dissemination of intelligence, maintaining confidentiality, sensitivity and a duty of care in line with Agency policy.

Carry out effective case management, and create, maintain and update departmental records, including operational or project/programme spreadsheets, case files and monthly reports. Conduct cross match searches, and analyse results using forensic data (as appropriate).

Assist Senior Crime Analysts, Behavioural Advisors, Geographic Profilers and Regional Support Officers in ad hoc analytical searches as appropriate (Primarily Analytical roles).

Promote professional standards and provide advice in relation to matters of misconduct that impact on organisational delivery or the Agency’s reputation (as appropriate).

Supervise staff or co-ordinate the work of a small team (as appropriate).

Build good working relationships with both internal and external partners including police forces.

Conduct relevant health and safety procedures and report issues or identified risks in accordance with health and safety legislation and Agency policy.
