We are currently recruiting a Indexer / Researcher based in Guildford. 6 Months fixed term with the possibility to extend.

1. Job Purpose
1.1 To work as part of an investigation team to undertake the indexing of material obtained from a County Council in respect to the running of a children’s home, in support of a large scale child abuse enquiry.
1.2 To create a review/index of the material in order that relevant extracts can be created of all information contained in relation to named individuals.
1.3 To use excel to create a searchable database for use as an intelligence tool to quickly locate documents in relation to named persons or areas of the investigation.
1.4 To ensure all documents are fully reviewed and indexed at the direction of the office manager.
1.5 To use adobe software to create PDF packs of relevant material for reviews by investigators.
1.6 To contribute to a review that is compliant with CPIA and withstands scrutiny in any criminal proceedings.

2. Key Accountabilities
2.1 To assist the DS and the Officer in the Case (OIC) as directed.

2.2 To ensure that all documents are thoroughly reviewed and indexed as directed, maintaining a high standard throughout to ensure all items are correctly documented.

2.3 To ensure that the database created is accurate and completed as directed.

3. Knowledge, Skills and Experience
3.1 Ability to read and use a computer throughout a working day maintaining a high level of concentration throughout.

3.2 Computer and word processing skills. Preferably using excel and adobe pro.

3.3 Previous experience of reviewing and indexing material.

3.4 A high level of interpersonal and oral skills, with an enquiring mind and the ability to get on with people.

3.5 The ability to work under pressure and to meet deadlines.

3.6 A methodical approach to work.

3.7 The ability to work effectively unsupervised and as part of a team.

3.8 An awareness of equality and diversity issues in the working environment.

3.9 An understanding of Data Protection issues in order to ensure that information is handled and filed correctly.

3.10 A flexible and creative approach to problem solving.
