We are currently recruiting a Holmes Action Manager based in Ashton Under Lynne on a 6 month on going contract.
£14.60 PH

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• To manage the allocation, investigation, completion and submission of M.I.R. documentation in accordance with the roles of action manager and receiver as detailed in MIRSAP.

• To read, assess and process M.I.R. documentation in accordance with the role of Document Receiver and Document Reader as detailed in MIRSAP.
To be responsible for the line management of specified staff, with regard to personnel issues including; the allocation and monitoring of work, staff training and development, staff discipline, grievance and welfare in order to ensure an efficient and effective investigative support service is provided to the unit.

• Allocate staff to investigate serious incidents.

• Conduct enquiries into serious crime or crime related matters.

• Ensure all property is properly dealt with in accordance with Home Office and Force guidelines. Ensuring that all exhibits are stored safely and correctly.

• Ensure security and integrity of Major Incident Rooms in line with all relevant guidelines, ACPO, Holmes Rules and Conventions, MIRSAP etc.

• Develop and maintain positive working relationships with other forces, Crown Prosecution Service, National Crime and Operations Faculty, Forensic Science Service, Home Office Pathologists and other agencies as appropriate.

• Liaise with other supervisory staff, and other forces, and ensure best work practices are carried out.

• Analyse and monitor information and intelligence generated by the Unit.

• Process paperwork and correspondence, ensuring that all processes are completed and checked in accordance with MIRSAP.

• To be a point of liaison for other forces relative to lines of enquiry into serious criminal matters. Liaise with SIOs on major incidents. Liaise with divisional commanders on non-murder incidents and provide specialist advice and guidance.

• Provide guidance to inexperienced members of Cat C / Secondary Phase Unit.

• Make enquiries with the general public into serious criminal matters in order to progress an investigation.

• Act as Outside Enquiries Supervisor in Major Incident Rooms.

• Ensure staff handle enquiries in accordance with the Home Office counting rules for Recorded Crime, the National Crime Recording Standard and minimum investigative requirements.

• To promote and comply with policies on health and safety both in the delivery of services and the treatment of others.

• Comply with and promote equality legislation and policies on diversity and equality. Take steps to eliminate unlawful discrimination, advance equality of opportunity and foster good relations.

• To fully participate in development review process.

• If you have responsibility for staff; to manage staff development, performance and attendance using appropriate GMP policy and procedure.

• To comply with the requirements of policies on Drug and Alcohol testing – requirements in respect of specific posts/ roles are described in the policies which are available on the Intranet/SharePoint.

• All staff and officers must adhere to and comply with Data Protection, Freedom of Information and Human Rights legislation and the Authorised Professional Practice (Information Management). It is the responsibility of all staff and officers to maintain data quality and security.

• Supervisors and managers have the additional responsibility of ensuring that staff undertake the appropriate training and fully understand and apply the required Force policy, procedures and information / records management standards in the course of their duties. Supervisors and managers should ensure that staff / officers understand their responsibilities in maintaining data quality and security and have appropriate processes in place to monitor compliance.
