Freedom of Information Officer (Oldham)

We are currently recruiting a Freedom of Information Officer based in Oldham.

Requirements:

• Degree level or equivalent appropriate professional level qualification
• Good computer skills, including using Excel and Word
• Experience of handling sensitive data and maintaining confidentiality.
• Experience of using electronic systems, with an ability to adapt and learn new systems.
• Experience of interpreting legislative requirement and implement change
• Ability to plan and prioritise work effectively, and to prioritise tasks on own initiative.
• Ability to keep accurate up to date records, in a timely fashion.
• Ability to plan and prioritise work effectively, and to prioritise tasks on own initiative.
• Ability to work under pressure, and to be adaptable to undertaking other tasks in line with service requirements
• Encourage and support employees and data subjects to comply and keep up to date with Records Management legislation and policy
• Adaptability and creativity with an innovative approach in dealing with changing requirements
• Ability to make prompt and well considered decisions when faced with unexpected and unanticipated problems and situations
• Knowledge of the Data Protection Act (2018); Freedom of Information Act 2000; The Childrens Act 2004 and the Caldicott reviews
• Understanding of redactions in line with GDPR and Data Protection Guidance; including reasons why documents/information may be withheld/redacted
• Understanding of lived experiences of people who are accessing their social care records.
• Understanding of the social care service in order to understand the context in which personal records are created.
• Willingness to attend evening meeting and work out of normal office ours as required and work within flexible working framework
