We are currently recruiting a File Preparation Officer/Disclosure Officer based in Blackpool on 3 months ongoing contract. Pay: £15.34 per hour

  • Provide appropriate supervision in the teams’ collection and gathering of evidence, ensuring that processes are in place for the recording and retention of material from a range of sources in a format that is evidentially admissible to support the investigative process.
  • Identify and plan investigative actions needed, taking into account resources, priorities, and proportionality to achieve investigatory objectives.
  • Regularly assesses the performance of the team and individuals. Recognise good performance and performance which is below standard. Take appropriate action to improve future performance.
  • Act as the document reader in HOLMES Major Incident Room as outlined in MIRSAP, working in close liaison with the Office Manager to read and prioritise all documentation submitted to the MIR, ensuring that all information and statements are dealt with in line with the Senior Investigating Officer’s (SIO’s) policies and procedures.
  • Graphically read all documents using the Holmes computer system, highlighting content to be indexed and recording a summary of the document. Where any reasonable line of enquiry is apparent give explicit instructions to raise an appropriate Action, assessing the priority of the Action in line with MIRSAP.
  • Ensure effective presentation of case papers to the CPS and in subsequent court appearances to obtain successful prosecutions.
  • Ensure that copies of all court and/or CPS documentation are retained by the MIR.
  • Liaise with the Indexing Team Leader; continually monitor the quality and quantity of documentation & appropriate level of indexing.
  • Provide advice, support and guidance to staff, officers and other departments in relation to quality and content of documents.

Requirements:

  • Successful completion of Holmes 2 course
  • PIP Level 2 trained and accredited
  • Proven track record as an investigator with experience of working on major investigations
  • Experience in a variety of detective roles and sound knowledge of investigative techniques.
  • Including up to date knowledge of RIPA, POCA and disclosure legislation
