We are currently recruiting a Drug Expert co-ordinator based in Kidlington.

£13.79 per hour. 3 – 6 month on going contract.

Job requirements:
Provide Expert evidence to a standard that successfully supports prosecutions for drug offenders. To act as professional lead & mentor to the Force DEN and act as liaison between TVP & external agencies in all matters relating to drugs.

Essential skills and experience:
Maintain a knowledge base of drug market practices, including dealing methods, marketing techniques, packaging, cutting agents, values, street names, language, technology and drug use trends so expert evidence is based on current and accurate information.
Provide impartial expert evidence to support prosecution cases across TVP including presenting at court during trial.
Co-ordinate the recruitment, training and continued maintenance of the DEN including CPD and statement allocation to maintain the reputation of TVP within the Criminal Justice Network and develop and retain expertise within the organisation.
Maintain liaison with CPS, Courts, L2&3 Police and enforcement agencies as well as other forces, to identify good practice and respond to changing trends or future risks to maintain and improve the service provided by the DEN.
Devise and maintain Drug policies and guidance and provide non-forensic tactical advice to improve operational consistency across TVP, including safety at scenes of drug manufacture or production.
Provide training to all relevant TVP operational and support officers and staff to raise knowledge, awareness & understanding.
Develop and maintain relationships and communication with LPA Command teams & OCU heads to ensure there is a consistent commitment to the provision of expert statements.
This role will sit centrally within FIU to manage a Force wide responsibility. It will be largely independent with the flexibility to complete the majority of the statements or allocate requests to the wider DEN in line with demand. It will bring together and professionalise a range of activities in relation to the management and presentation of evidence in cases of drug supply and abuse.
It is vital that the post holder develops and maintains credibility and authority in relation to knowledge and expertise of drug related matters and is capable of delivering that knowledge to a relevant audience.
Work Commitments are likely to be a balance of pre-planned work and providing urgent cover / responses where the need arises.
There will be limited scope to make financial decisions beyond identifying funding for training and educational support.
