We are currently recruiting a Crime Scene Investigator based in Salmesbury. 3-month contract.

Job description:

To provide a crime scene investigation service in support of operational policing.

Responsabilities:

This is not a comprehensive list of all the tasks which may be required of the post holder. It is illustrative of the general nature and level of responsibility of the work to be undertaken.

• Undertake photographic and video tasks relevant to the CSI role in support of Police investigations. To record intelligence and evidence in compliance with local and national procedures.

• Provide scene and evidence preservation advice to Police Officers, Police Staff and partners when required.

• Manage the evidence recovery process and scenes when required.

• Undertake fingerprint task relevant to the CSI role in support of Police investigations in compliance with local and national procedures. This will include the fingerprinting of cadavers and other persons for identification and elimination purposes.

• Search for and recover forensic evidence at incident scenes in support of Police investigations in compliance with local and national procedures. To include the taking possession of evidence from victims, suspects, witnesses and cadavers (in some instances in support of medical or pathological examinations.

• Contribute to the national intelligence model ensuring intelligence is handled in compliance with local procedures.

• Process evidence and intelligence in compliance with policies and procedures.

Attending relevant meetings and providing advice to Police officers and Police Staff on forensic and scientific support matters.

• Preparing statements and giving evidence in court.

• Undertake the CSI role when required to support other law enforcement agencies and government departments.

• Complete all administrative procedures relevant to the role.

• Apply a citizen focused approach ensuring a high quality service is delivered to the public.

• Maintaining stocks of all relevant CSI/forensic consumables and equipment. Maintain equipment and vehicles used for crime scene work and all the crime scene investigation facilities.

• Perform the role exercising powers designated by the Chief Constable under the Police Reform Act 2002.

• Participate in a formal standby rota where you will be required to respond to requests outside of your normal working hours when on standby.

• There is an expectation for you to work hours beyond your normal tour of duty on occasion to support major crime enquiries where necessary.

• To carry out any other duties which are consistent with the nature, responsibilities and grading of the post.
